After market success of AEON, which is designed for listening in near-medium field it was a challenge for us and “natural” step forward into pro-audio world to create an active nearfield studio monitor. This is how IO was created.

High-quality components used for construction of IO and well thought-out acoustic design have resulted in perfect linearity of processing, at the same time preserving natural sound timbre. Detailed music transfer and sensational stereophony make IO comparable only to the best in the world designs for listening in the near field.

Sturdy design and small monitor size make it an excellent proposal for discerning users having smaller listening rooms, and also those with extended sound processing systems who are looking for reference nearfield monitors.

IO studio monitor is an active 2-way appliance equipped with two speakers (tweeter and woofer) and two independent power amplifiers for each speaker fixed on the back plate of the monitor enclosure, as well as with an appropriate set of precise regulators, signalizes, inputs and security devices.

Both speakers applied in IO are produced by well known company SEAS from Norway. The woofer is a construction meeting the APS strict requirements. Like its bigger brother IO monitor is offered in two versions: with a titanium or a fabric dome tweeter.

The monitor has been closed in the bass reflex enclosure with front ventilation. The cabinet design combining small dimensions with thick front and side walls ensures extremely rigid base for speakers and electronic module mounted in it. The edges of the monitor enclosure have been rounded to reduce reflections and to improve the quality of produced sound. The inner wall of the enclosure that completely separates the electronic module from the speaker chamber constitutes at the same time an additional reinforcement of the enclosure eliminating minute oscillations of the monitor enclosure side walls.

Black semi-gloss lacquer is the standard finish of IO.

Amplification

IO monitor is an active 2-way appliance equipped with two speakers (tweeter and woofer) and two independent power amplifiers for each speaker. Both power amplifiers operate on monolithic integrated circuits TDA7294 (16) and (17). Whereas, in filter systems the highest quality operational amplifiers BurrBrown OPA 2134 and OPA 134 have been used.

Instead of traditional potentiometers, eight-position hermetic switches have been introduced, ensuring high resistance to external factors and long-lasting, failure-free functioning.

Protection
IO monitor has several built in protection systems to reduce the risk of hazard or damage due to overloading as well as prevent against interferences.
The tweeter is protected by an electronic Tweeter Protection System limiting overdrive of its dedicated Power Amplifier. The Tweeter Power Amplifier is equipped with thermal, short circuit and over-current protections. There are also interference eliminators operating during switch-on and switch-off.

The woofer is similarly protected by its own Woofer Protection System. The woofer section is also equipped with its own thermal sensor and is protected by a specially designed Power Amplifier Controller.

The IO loudspeakers are magnetically shielded, preventing interferences with TV screen, computer monitor screen (e.g. disturbance of colors) or other equipment standing nearby.

There is also the Ground Lift Switch preventing against ground loops.
